A green corridor is a maritime route focused on making sure that large ships are adopting zero-emission fuels and technology. The creation of green corridors is spurred on by the need to mitigate climate change; their creation will also help protect near port communities, and create maritime jobs to help with the decarbonization transition. One of the most popular large ship routes is the cruise route from the Pacific Northwest to Alaska, an area of the world also known for world class fisheries and proximity to unspoiled wildness.
SEC is a part of a massive collaborative effort to create a green corridor along the Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska coastlines. The international effort to create The Pacific Northwest to Alaska Green Corridor builds on a history of environmental leadership and innovation in the region with successful partnerships among ports and the cruise industry toward environmental action. This distinct and well-traveled maritime corridor is a prime region to be an industry leader and environmental example for others around the world to follow.
