A part of the Alaska Heat Smart program, Accelerating Clean Energy Savings is a 5 year program to help families convert their homes from fossil fuel heat sources to energy-efficient heat pumps. The $39 million fund is intended to help families across coastal communities overcome the prohibitive costs of the conversion and aims to aid in the installation of 6000 heat pumps throughout 48 communities.
The initial roll out of heat pumps has begun and the first phase of the ACES program is working out the best process to efficiently install the heat pumps to minimize costs. Be sure to check out their Phase 1 communities list to see if you are in an eligible area and can apply for a heat pump today. You can also sign up to be on a waitlist and get notified when heat pumps are coming to your community!
- Your home is located within the ACES region – coastal communities from Ketchikan to Kodiak.
- The address for which you are applying is your primary dwelling.
- The home’s primary heating system must currently use oil, propane, gas, or wood.
